Brazil Weather & Climate description

Since Brazil is in the southern hemisphere, its seasons are the opposite of those in the northern hemisphere, such as North America and Europe. Just about all of the countries is in the tropical zone.

Summer is from December-March, it is typically hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 23-35°C (72-95°F), and sometimes reaching to 38°C (100°F) or higher. During the summer months, it can get uncomfortably hot just about everywhere in Brazil. Sometimes trade winds cool things down a bit, especially along coastal areas. Summer is also the rainy season, which means there are sometimes short bursts of heavy rain, but a short time later
the sun appears.

Winter is from July-September, it is milder in the south of Brazil but to the north, there is not much change in temperatures due to its close proximity to the equator. Winter daytime temperatures range from 20-30°C (68-86°F) with lower humidity. Winter rains are more likely to be a drizzle than a downpour, and can linger for one or two days.

Rainfall levels vary widely throughout Brazil. But most of Brazil has moderate rainfall of between 1,000 and 1,500mm (39 and 59 inches) a year, with most of the rain falling in the summer, between December and April. The Amazon region in the north of the country receives the most amount of rainfall, with more than 2,000 mm (79 inches) per year and reaching as high as 3,000 mm (118 inches) in some parts of the western Amazon.
