Located next to Praca da Liberdade is the street known as Rua Galvao Bueno. It is located in the downtown area of Sao Paulo in the Liberdade district, which is considered to have the largest Japanese population outside of Japan in the world.

This street is considered the heart of the Liberdade district and is an interesting place to explore. A huge red Japanese Torii arches high over the street as it marks the entry to the beginning of the street and serves as some sort of greeting to visitors of the street.

The street is lined with red lanterns and is filled with Japanese & Asian restaurants, shops, oriental items and also the popular shopping mall called SoGo Shopping Plaza is located on this street. Also, the intersecting streets of Rua dos Estudantes, and Rua da Gloria you’ll find many oriental-style restaurants, shops and supermarkets.
